Cigar Lighters Are Part Of A Cigar Connoisseur's Kit

The fact that smoking constitutes a health risk is widely known does not prevent a vast number of people from indulging in the habit. However it is also known that the smoking of cigars is less harmful than the smoking of cigarettes. Quite often cigar smokers are known as connoisseurs just like people who enjoy their wine. There are some basics involved in cigar smoking which means having the right supplies that can include a cigar lighter.

Hand rolling is common to good cigars and will have a flavor that is distinct and depends on the type of tobacco that is used in the cigar.  Flavors can range from dry to sweet, and just as in wines, flavors and aroma are included in the terms used to describe a cigar by those that love their cigars. The nuances that make up the flavor can be quite a few, but they will generally have a connection with the humidity, age of the cigar, flavor enhancers added and the basic type of the tobacco used in the cigar. Humidity is important to produce the right fermentation in the tobacco and must not be so much that it promotes the rotting of the cigar. You can get cigars that have been specially aged for a long time, decades in fact,so that the flavor remains enhanced.

Cigar smoke is not inhaled, unlike that from cigarettes. A cigar smoker will use the end nearest to the band and referred to as the head. He then puffs on the cigar and lets the smoke swirl in his mouth for savoring the flavor, and will then exhale through the nose so that he gets the aroma of the tobacco. There are some cigars,of the expensive kind, that will even change flavors while the cigar is being smoked.

You need to cut the head end of the cigar before you can start smoking it. Most cigar smokers will use a special instrument for this that they will carry with them. Cutting it the right way is very important so that the flavor and burn of the cigar is just correct. Smoking a cigar from the side away from the head can mean a smoking experience that is unpleasant while being devoid of the correct flavor. You can always get yourself a cigar lighter that has a built in cutter that can be quite convenient to use.

Once the job of cutting the head of the cigar is carried out to the required perfection, you can then light your cigar with the help of the cigar lighter. If you use a normal cigarette lighter to light a cigar, it is likely that the flavor of the cigar will be spoiled by the flavor of the lighter fluid. For the same reason use a wooden match instead of paper matches if that is the way you want to light your cigar. A cigar lighter on the other hand, which is essentially a butane lighter, will produce a flame like a torch quite unlike the flickering flame in cigarette lighters. The cigar end needs to be lit so that it burns evenly and also does not ignite the paper coating. This requires a lot of care.

A humidor is another essential piece required in the kit of a cigar smoker. This is basically a box made of wood that allows cigars stored in them to maintain the right level of humidity. Cigars should never be allowed to dry out, as this results in their losing the natural tobacco oils that impart much of the flavor to a cigar. Keeping a cigar in an area where the humidity is controlled can allow the cigar to ferment and age for years.

Cigars have their own aura of mystery for the people who do not smoke them, but a cigar smoker considers their use as one that allows him to enjoy the day and relax at the same time. Cigar smokers are quite particular about their cigars and the tools that they need to get a good smoke. Cigar smokers would be very appreciative of gifts that include a cigar lighter that has an attached cutter.
